Minister of Human Rights Meets the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Yemen

The Minister of Human Rights, Meshdal Mohammed Omar, met on Sunday with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Yemen, Thomas Schneider, at the Yemeni Embassy in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed recent developments in the human rights situation in the Republic of Yemen and explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in this field. Discussions focused in particular on supporting national mechanisms, empowering civil society organizations, and developing technical assistance and capacity-building programs to enhance the rule of law and promote human rights principles.

The Minister expressed his appreciation for the role played by the Germany in supporting Yemen, commending its continued contributions to government efforts in humanitarian and human rights sectors.

For his part, the German Ambassador reiterated his congratulations to the Minister on gaining the confidence of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, and the Prime Minister, Shaye Al-Zindani. He affirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening communication and expanding joint cooperation in support of the human rights agenda in Yemen.

The Ambassador also expressed his hope that future meetings would take place in the interim capital, Aden, with the return of the Yemeni government and the restoration of conditions that would enable embassies and international organizations to resume operations from within the country.
