Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, met with the Minister of Human Rights, Mr. Meshdal Mohammed Omar, to discuss the ministry’s priorities for the upcoming period, in line with the directives of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government’s program.
Dr. Al-Alimi congratulated the Minister on gaining the confidence of the leadership, emphasizing the importance of the ministry fulfilling its central role in strengthening the protection of rights and freedoms, promoting the principles of justice and the rule of law, intensifying efforts to monitor and document violations, and enhancing accountability mechanisms, in a manner that reflects the state’s commitment to its national and international human rights obligations.
He stressed the need to further develop the ministry’s institutional performance, enhance coordination with judicial and oversight bodies, and strengthen cooperation with regional and international partners. These efforts, he noted, would contribute to improving humanitarian response, protecting the most vulnerable groups, and reinforcing the principles of transparency and accountability.
Dr. Al-Alimi also reaffirmed the Presidential Leadership Council’s full support for the Ministry of Human Rights, ensuring it is empowered to carry out its mandate efficiently and independently, thereby strengthening public trust in state institutions and contributing to stability and the rule of law.
For his part, the Minister of Human Rights affirmed his commitment to working in accordance with the directives of the Presidential Leadership Council and to implementing programs and plans aimed at strengthening the national human rights protection system, developing monitoring and documentation mechanisms, and improving coordination with relevant stakeholders, in a way that serves citizens’ interests and safeguards their dignity.
