Minister of Human Rights Discusses Strengthening Partnership and Coordination with CIVIC to Protect Civilians

The Minister of Human Rights, Meshdal Mohammed Omar, met on Monday in the interim capital, Aden, with the Regional Director of Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC), Dunia Al-Maamoun, to explore ways to strengthen partnership and joint coordination for the protection of civilians.

Minister Meshdal emphasized the importance of institutionalizing cooperation between the ministry and CIVIC, and expanding program coverage to include various liberated governorates. He highlighted the need to focus on training security and military forces in accordance with International Humanitarian Law and civilian protection standards.

He also noted the ministry’s efforts to protect the most vulnerable groups, particularly through programs aimed at combating child recruitment, reaffirming the commitment to continued collaboration with local and international partners to strengthen the human rights system.

For her part, the CIVIC Regional Director presented the organization’s programs and future plans in Yemen, underscoring its commitment to developing specialized training initiatives and enhancing coordination mechanisms to ensure more effective protection of civilians during armed conflict.
