Aden/ Special:
The Ministry of Human Rights strongly condemns the continued grave violations perpetrated by the Houthi terrorist militias against civilians in Taiz Governorate. Between April 5 and 8, 2026, four violent incidents occurred, including three sniping incidents and shelling targeting residential neighborhoods. This dangerous escalation reflects a blatant disregard for civilian lives.
The Ministry’s team documented a series of these crimes, which resulted in the injury of Shifa Hatem Ali Rashid (62 years old), the killing of Ibrahim Jalal Amin Ahmed (13 years old) and Khalid Walid Mohammed (14 years old), and the death of Mohammed Farhan Ali Abdullah (70 years old) from injuries sustained in these documented incidents carried out by elements of the terrorist militias from positions under their control.
The Ministry affirms that these crimes represent a systematic pattern of targeting civilians, a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, and constitute grave violations that may amount to crimes against humanity.
These violations also reflect a clear disregard for peace efforts and a continuation of the approach of violence and military escalation.
While condemning these crimes, the Ministry calls upon the international community and the Security Council to take clear and unequivocal stances in condemning them, working to stop them, and to promote accountability and end impunity.
It also calls on the UN Special Envoy to Yemen to assume his responsibilities and take concrete steps to exert pressure to ensure the protection of civilians.
The Ministry reiterates its commitment to continuing to monitor and document violations and to work with partners to achieve justice and redress for victims.
