The Ministry of Human Rights has strongly condemned, in the strongest terms, the terrorist attack carried out by the Houthi militias, backed by the Iranian regime, which targeted a gathering of civilians on Sunday evening in Hayran District, Hajjah Governorate, while they were having their iftar meal. The attack represents a blatant disregard for the right to life, as well as for humanitarian values, national norms, and the rules of international humanitarian law.
In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Ministry stated: “The field reports and monitoring operations received by the Ministry indicate that the attack was not random, but was carried out following precise aerial surveillance using a drone to locate civilian gatherings, which confirms the existence of a premeditated criminal intent to commit a massacre against innocent people, and makes this crime an act of deliberate killing and direct targeting of civilians that falls under war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The Ministry added that “this heinous Houthi crime resulted in the killing of eight civilians, including children, and the injury of more than thirty others, some critically. The victims include: Issa Mohammed Hassan Faraj (24), Abdu Mohammed Ali Junaid (40), Junaid Ismail Blihemi Mohammed (19), Musab Ahmed Mahdi Tayeb (26), Abdulrahman Mohammed Ali Salman (32), and Mohammed Yami Abdu Ali Shaheer (32).”
The Ministry also documented the killing of the child Mawaddah Akram Ali Mohammed Saleh Al-Shawosh (3 years old) and the child Abdulrahman Musab Ahmed Mahdi Al-Tayeb (5 years old). Dozens of others sustained varying injuries, including the child Asmaa Musab Ahmed Mahdi Al-Tayeb (3 years old) and the civilian Waleed Ibrahim Abdullah Abu Aneesh (30). This toll reflects the criminal nature of the militia and its pattern of systematic attacks.
The Ministry emphasized that silence in the face of such grave violations encourages the Iranian-backed Houthi militias and their leadership to continue committing crimes and massacres against civilians and to persist in violating international laws.
The Ministry of Human Rights stressed the necessity of pursuing those responsible for these crimes, ensuring that they do not escape accountability, and providing the necessary support to protect civilians from deliberate Houthi missile and aerial attacks.
The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, affirming that such documented crimes will not be subject to statutes of limitations, and that the pursuit of justice and redress for victims will remain a top priority until all those involved in shedding innocent blood are held accountable.
