Minister of Human Rights, Mashdal Mohammed Omar, affirmed that the continued attacks carried out by the terrorist Houthi militias against commercial vessels and international shipping routes in the Red Sea constitute a grave violation of the rules of international law and threaten civilian safety and the security of global trade.
In a statement issued today, the Minister explained that the impact of these attacks is not limited to threatening the security of international navigation, but also exacerbates the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people through the economic and humanitarian repercussions they cause, further complicating the situation in the country.
He pointed out that these terrorist acts come within the context of implementing the Iranian agenda, which has used the Houthi militias to serve objectives that go beyond the interests of Yemen and its people, in clear violation of international laws and norms, and in a manner that threatens regional and international security and stability.
The Minister called on the international community to adopt a firmer stance to deter these violations, work to cut off sources of support for the militias, ensure the protection of freedom of international navigation as a collective responsibility, and hold accountable those responsible for threatening the security of maritime routes and endangering international interests.
